I.E.S. PEDRO CERRADA SCHOOL - ELECTRONICS DEPARTMENT - UTEBO (SPAIN)
SOLAR AND WIND ENERGIES Here at IES Pedro Cerrada, we have Vocational Studies, at an intial level and high level concerning Electronics. In the initial courses which have to do with electronical Consume equiupment, pupils have a subject about Basic Electrical Installation to complement their training, we have added other up to date contents related to solar photovoltaic Installations. To teach this part, we have a solar installation totally functional in which we carry out different configurations of solar installations so that the pupils can know the components of such installations: solar panels, adjustable frames, charge regulators, battery bank, converters into 230V and the right electrical installation for a house. During this school year (2009-2010), we have included in this installation a wind generator of 400W. We just have the typical solar system but isolated from the electrical network of the building. During the process, the pupils do the installation, configuration of equipment and tasks related to measurements and mainting of such installations. When the course finishes, we suggest a calculation project and design of a photovoltaic installation isolated from the electrical network. We want to say that our energy installation supplies with energy for a light signboard which works even when we are using everything inside the classroom, thanks to the wind generator. Next year, we will add equipment in order to connect it to the electrical network. We also want to add some solar frameworks for solar power producing. * February 2011** We are already supplying with enough power for the whole building of Electronics, Therefore, we are quite satisfied with the efforts made by teachers and pupils alike.
